Pisgah, DuPont, and Brevard
Pisgah Ranger District and Bent Creek are forested mountain trails near Asheville and Brevard. DuPont State Forest brings exposed granite into the same broad region, while Bracken Preserve and Davidson River are closer to Brevard. DuPont's mountain biking guidance says to stay off the trails when you are leaving tire marks.

What affects drying time
Shade
Forested trails get less sun and wind, so the ground can stay wet between storms.
Rainfall
The area gets heavy rain throughout the year. A brief, intense summer storm can leave runoff and soft ground long after it passes.
Elevation
Higher trails can hold snow and cycle through freeze and thaw while lower trails are clear. Conditions near Brevard do not describe Beech Mountain or the other High Country parks.

Check the DuPont State Forest mountain biking guidance, the US Forest Service for Pisgah and Bent Creek, and the City of Brevard for Bracken Preserve. Follow posted closures and turn back if the tread is soft.
