Loam is built to answer one question: are the trails rideable right now? This policy explains what information the app and website collect, why, and how it is used.
What we collect
- Location (approximate GPS): used to find trail networks near you and sort them by distance. Location is used on-device only and is never stored on our servers.
- Device push token: if you opt into notifications, your device's push token is stored on our backend alongside the trail networks you choose to watch. This token is used solely to deliver condition alerts you have requested. No name or account is associated with it.
- Product usage and search history: the app records feature interactions and Explore search text through PostHog so we can improve Loam and identify missing trail coverage. Events use a random app-generated identifier and may include coarse location derived from IP address, but not precise GPS or your identity.
- Conditions feedback: if you report whether a trail network was drier, about right, or wetter than Loam estimated, we store the network, the day you rode, your answer, and the model inputs associated with that estimate. Website reports use a random browser identifier and a temporary IP-based limit to prevent duplicate or abusive submissions. The browser identifier and IP address are not stored with the report.
- Diagnostics: Sentry receives crash and performance information, device and app details, and product-event breadcrumbs so we can diagnose failures. It may derive coarse location from IP address.
- Subscription status: Apple and RevenueCat process purchases and provide Loam with purchase and entitlement status tied to a pseudonymous customer identifier. Loam does not receive your payment card details.
What we do not collect
Loam does not require an account. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any payment information. We do not track your location history or build a profile of where you ride.
Website analytics
The Loam website uses Google Analytics and PostHog to understand which pages bring riders to Loam and whether people use important features such as App Store links and free widget tools. These services may receive an anonymous browser identifier, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser information, referring page, campaign tags, pages viewed, and the specific product actions described above. Loam does not send names, email addresses, trail searches, form text, or precise location to website analytics.
Advertising storage and personalization are disabled. PostHog autocapture and session recording are also disabled. Loam respects Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track browser signals, and analytics are not loaded for browsers sending either signal. You can also change analytics for this browser below.

Notifications
If you enable alerts, your device push token and a list of the trail networks you choose to watch are stored on our backend. This information is used only to send the alerts you requested. You can remove a network from your watch list at any time in the Alerts tab. Uninstalling the app stops all future notifications.
Data retention
Push tokens and watched network preferences are retained until you remove them via the Alerts tab or uninstall the app. Your conditions feedback report, including any note you write, is retained for up to 90 days. From each report we also keep a non-personal calibration record (the network, the day you rode, your drier, wetter, or about right answer, and the model inputs at that time), with no note text and no identifiers, for as long as it helps improve the estimate. Temporary website-feedback rate-limit records expire within 24 hours. Precise GPS location is never stored beyond your current session.
Children
Loam is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
